The capture of the Florida will not cause so much surprise after the following account of it is read.--She was lying in the neutral port of Bahia, Brazil, under the guns of a Brazilian fort; and, under the laws of nations, should have been safe if she had not had a man aboard. The Yankee steamer Wachussett, which captured her, was one of those gunboats which participated in the fight at Drewry's icers and fifty-eight of the crew of the Florida were captured. The Wachussett and Florida were to leave St. Thomas on the 2d instant for New York. This violation of the neutrality of Brazilian waters is not likely to amount to anything, as Brazil is a weak power; and last year, to soothe the Yankees, issued an order prohibiting the Alabama from ever coaling in a Brazilian port for some alleged infraction of the law of that country.
