The Daily Dispatch: October 26, 1861., [Electronic resource], By the Governor of Virginia.--a Proclamation. (search)
Ranaway.--one hundred Dollars reward. --Ranaway from me, near Mount Terzab, Person county, North Carolina, on the 18th inst., my negro man Joe, about 23 years of age, a dark mulatto, well built, and very likely; six feet high, and weighs 180 pounds; rather bushy head of hair, and heavy beard; can read and write, but writes badly. He may attempt to pass for free, or have a pass. Had on, when he left, an oznaburg shirt, blue cotton pants, and wool hat.--I bought him in Richmond, in September, 1860, of Dickinson, Hill & Co., auctioneers. He was brought to Richmond by Thos. Fisher for Jas. Kurkindall of Hardy county, Va., near Moorfields and I think his purpose is to go back. I will give one hundred Dollars if taken out of the State, and fifty if taken in the State, for his arrest and confinement in jail, so I get him, or for his delivery at Dickinson & Hill's. James I. Cothian. oc 25--3t
