--Junior Second Lieut. Thomas Ellett, of the Crenshaw Battery of this city, has been appointed Captain of that battery, vice Captain Crenshaw, resigned.
Captain Ellett has been a Lieutenant in the battery ever since its organization, and is highly esteemed by his command.
Sergeant E. G. Hollis, of this city, of the same company, has been elected (unanimously) to till the vacancy occasioned by the promotion of Lieut. Ellett. Sergeant Hollis is said to be very popular with the command, and it is thought he will make an excellent officer.

--Captain Wm. G. Crenshaw, of this city, formerly commander of the Crenshaw Battery, sent from England to his old command, who have received them, one hundred pairs splendid thick sole English boots.
It is a splendid boot for army wear.
The company appreciate the gift, and will not have to depend upon the Confederacy or the battle-field plunder to be shod the coming winter.
The Captain has been very liberal towards his old company.
He gave them, while with them, a splendid uniform, including overcoat, shoes, winter underclothes, "c.
