The Southern Rights portion of our citizens held a meeting at the Court-House on Monday last, and appointed delegates to the Congressional Convention to assemble at Suffolk, on the 19th inst. I learn that no preference was expressed, though it seems to be the general impression that Mr. Kindred, of Southampton, will receive the nomination, Mr. Chambliss having declined on account of physical inability. A determined effort will be made to defeat General Millson, who has already inaugurated a vigorous campaign, and will, it is said, thoroughly canvass the district.--He addressed the citizens of Nansemond yesterday at their Court- House in Suffolk. Arrival of the Berussia. New York,June 4.--The steamer Borussia, from Southampton on the 22d ult., has arrived here. Italy wants a loan of 500,000,000 francs from France. Doubts are entertained, as the new Kingdom is not yet acknowledged. The whole Toulon squadron have left for Syria. A portion of the troops have been withdrawn from the squares in Warsaw. Albemarle, Amherst, Bedford, Brunswick, Buckingham, Chesterfield, Cumberland, Essex, Fairfax, Gloucester, Halifax, Hampshire, Hanover, Isle of Wight, Lancaster, Loudon, Mecklenburg, Middlesex, New Kent, Norfolk, Northampton, Northumberland, Orange, Richmond, Southampton, Stafford, Surry, Sussex, Warwick, York, and perhaps some others, are names derived from England or English officials or noblemen. Patrick and Henry, (after Patrick Henry,) Jefferson, Nelson, Harrison, Randolph, Lee, Brooke, Wood, Monroe, Page. Cabell, Tyler, Barbour, Nicholas, Preston, Pleasants, Giles, Floyd, Gilmer, McDowell and Wise, were named after Virginia Governors subsequent to Independence. Some of these citizens afterwards occupied still more distinguished positions.
Sailing of Steamers. New York Nov. 10. --The steamship Fulton, for Southampton and Havre, sailed at noon, with 70 passengers and $185,000 in specie. The steamer Vigo, for Liverpool, carries out 120 passengers, and a trifling amount of specie.
