The patriotism of the Kentucky Federal Home Guards.
--We take the following extract from a Bowling Green letter in the New Orleans Picayune, dated the 3d instant:
The patriotism of the Home Guards, of Kentucky, is fully illustrated in this fact, which I have received from a fully reliable source; W. C. Richardson, late a member of the Kentucky Legislature from Meade county, in attempting to pass the Federal lines on his way to Bowling Green, was arrested by a company of Home Guards, Bowling Green, was arrested by a company of Home Guards, and as he had been somewhat active in the Southern movements in his vicinity, he expected to fare roughly.
But something occurring to give him an opportunity to try what virtue there was in appeals to their cupidity he entered upon negotiations for his release, and was, on the payment in cash of $200, allowed to go unscathed.
It is of this material, almost entirely, that the Lincoln recruits in Kentucky have been obtained.
