ent to its consummation. It is no mere negro question; It involves the severance of as people whose sentiments and institutions are hostile to the growth in peace of each, and it is this philosophy, this theory, which is now evolving itself, and assuming an objective form. It is simply a movement in obedience to law, irresistible in its operation. A Richmond ship from Brazil, with a cargo of 3,000 bags of coffee, had a bomb shell fired at her. About thirty vessels are said to be off Old Point, detained by the phlegmatic hero of the Cumberland — the machine that moves as it is moved and that obeys orders — the portly automaton of the baboon of Jilinois — the native of Kentucky, the off-shoot of Virginia. Bob Butt, the grave-digger, whose services were so important during the rage of the yellow fever here, in 1855, says his occupation is well nigh-gone — no men, women or children die now-a-days — they are all required for the present crisis;argal, Bob argues, Providence i

Bold Venture. --The steamer Georgeanna is at Old Point, having reached there Sunday morning, but was not allowed to pass the blockade.
