The Baltimore American has the following paragraph about the desperate fighting of the Confederates at Gettysburg: The whole of the artillery at the battle of Gettysburg was commanded by Gen. Tyler, of Connecticut, who writes that all of the reserve artillery was brought up, and the Rebels fought with the greatest desperation, charging up to the very muzzle of his guns, and shooting his gunners; but their desperation and reckless ness could not save them.
