A witness saw Lewis attempt two or three times to drive the hog off the lot, designing, no doubt, to steal her; but failing to accomplish his object, he seized on to her and plunged a long shoemaker's knife into her throat. The hog had a litter of pigs only a few days old, which, by the loss of their mother, will probably be lost. Lewis was ordered to be whipped to the extent of the law. Washington, slave of John Williamson, was ordered thirty lashes for stealing nine pounds of fresh butter, belonging to Mrs Sarah E Hatcher, of Goochland.
