Volunteering. --A correspondent informs us that the capture of Roanoke Island and the fail of Fort Donelson had a happy effect upon Buckingham county, Va. Nearly every man between the ages of eighteen and forty-five has joined the army. If the same spirit animates the people elsewhere, our reverses will prove a blessing in disguise.

Accidentally killed. --S. W. Glover, of Buckingham county, Va., a member of company K, 41st Virginia regiment, was killed on Monday night last, while a passenger for this city on one of Edmond & Co.'s canal packets. While standing on the deck of the boat his head came in contact with a sleeper in Mr. Samuel Cottrell's bridge, by which his neck was broken.
