Wanted
--Professorship.--A Virginia gentleman, an A. B. of first honor in a Southern College of high grade, (who is qualified to teach English, Latin, Greek, German, French and Mathematics,) desires a situation in some College, Female Seminary, or other institution of learning.
If necessary, the best of testimonials can be produced with respect to moral character, &c.

Volunteering.
--A correspondent informs us that the capture of Roanoke Island and the fail of Fort Donelson had a happy effect upon Buckingham county, Va. Nearly every man between the ages of eighteen and forty-five has joined the army.
If the same spirit animates the people elsewhere, our reverses will prove a blessing in disguise.

I bought John in March last, at the auction room of Dickinson & Hill, in Richmond, of Mr. George Turner, of Prince William county, Va., where he has a wife, and may endeavor to get back.

Accidentally killed.
--S. W. Glover, of Buckingham county, Va., a member of company K, 41st Virginia regiment, was killed on Monday night last, while a passenger for this city on one of Edmond & Co.'s canal packets.
While standing on the deck of the boat his head came in contact with a sleeper in Mr. Samuel Cottrell's bridge, by which his neck was broken.
