The Daily Dispatch: March 6, 1861., [Electronic resource], Railroad meeting. (search)
The Anniversary of Ireland's Patron, Saint Patrick, which occurs on the 17th of March, will, doubtless, be celebrated in an appropriate manner by the natives of the first gem of the sea resident here.
As a class, the South has no truer or more steadfast friends than Irishmen.
Still they never forget their own loved isle, and are ever loyal to the memory of their first great missionary.
No doubt the proceedings alluded to will be under the direction of the Hibernian Society, and we shall also see on the 17th a fine parade of the Montgomery Guard.
We hope so.
