A New battalion. --We invite attention to the advertisement of Capt. W. M. Elliott, who proposes, under authority of the Secretary of War, to raise a battalion for service in this neighborhood. Capt. Elliott will take command, with the rank of Major, and we scarcely need say that his qualifications for the position are equal to those of any officer in the service.
