Gen. Cass.
--One of the regiments from Michigan which recently passed South, was commanded by an adopted son of the venerable Gen Cass.
Previous to leaving home the old veteran addressed the regiment, and, in conclusion, (turning to his son,) he said, that it was unnecessary for him to remind him that his State would expect him to display his valor in the service, for that was a quality proverbial with all Americans, but, says he, let me imprest it upon you that you must never permit your command to be surprised — a hint which, if given at the commencement of the rebellion, would have saved us much credit and time in quashing this great iniquity. --N. Y. Express.
