Bombardment of Lavaca. --A correspondent of the Mississippian furnishes an account of the bombardment of Lavaca, Texas, on the 31st ult. and the succeeding day. The Yankee steamers, the number of which is not stated, came abreast of the town and sent a flag of truce ashore, demanding of Major Shea, who was in command, the surrender of the place, which was refused. They then granted one hour and halffor the removal of the women, children, and sick, there being yellow fever in the town. One poor old man, Capt. Porter, died under the severity of removing in a weak state, and the correspondent says that others will probably follow him. About twenty minutes or so after the time had elapsed the vessels opened upon the town a murderous fire of shell and shot, which crashed through the houses, shattering and tearing to pieces costly furniture of every description.
