Singular breaking. --Philip W. Reynolds, a young man of some police notoriety, was before the Mayor yesterday, to answer for breaking into the butcher's stall of Emanuel Raymond, at the second market, on Saturday night last, and stealing several account books and $18.80 in money. Reynolds was discovered by a party of boys when in the act of breaking the door. After securing his plunder the lads gave the alarm, followed him, and had him arrested by Watchman Lucas, who found the stolen articles in his possession.--After getting into the look-up the prisoner effected his escape and fled to a building on 5th street, where he was recaptured and locked up. The Mayor remanded the accused for indictment by the Grand Jury in August next, and fixed his bail at $500.
