House Breaking. --On Friday night last the shoe-shop of James H. Peay, on South Broad street, between 25th, and 26th, was broken into and robbed. About 12 o'clock, just as the robbers had packed up their plunder and were about to leave, they were discovered and fired on. Finding their persons to be in danger, (for there was one white man and one negro,) the thieves took to their heels, dropping their plunder, and made tracks down 25th street, the gentleman who pursued them firing a second shot to hasten their speed. In the shop no one slept, and the robbers would have escaped with their booty but for being discovered by a servant woman opposite, who aroused a gentleman next door and induced him to fire on and pursue the robbers.
