Dignified scandal --Mr. Thackeray contributes a paper to Blackwood entitled "Strange to Say, on Club Paper." The codicil of the late Lord Clyde's will was written on club paper, and as it was signed at Chatham, and not in London, some good natured gossips invented a story of his lordship's meanness, and charged him with purloining club stationery. The explanation is, that Lord Clyde's solicitor, being a member of the Atheneum, wrote the codicil at the Club and sent it to Chatham, and his lordship signed the original draft. Mr. Thackeray administers a severe rebuke to scandal mongers.
