After a short address from the Mayor in support of his communication, Mr. Hill offered the following resolution, which was unanimously adopted: Received by the Council of the City of Richmond, That James B Pleasants, Captain of the Night watch, be removed from his office for misconduct as an officer on the 11th of May, 1864, Mr. Scott offered a resolution, which was adopted, that the Committee on Police, in connection with the Mayor and Governor and the Colonels of the militia regiments, consult together as to the best means of receiving a sufficient number of men to guard the city. The night watch being to tally inefficient it is proposed to get some persons to watch them or supply their places. The Council then adjourned.
