Progress of the soldiers' dinner. --Up to a late hour yesterday afternoon, a most unusual contribution had been made on the part of our citizens for the soldiers' dinner, designed to take place on New-Year's day. Those who have not yet done so, will be in time between this and the 31st instant to send in their contributions; but as some time will be required by the managers to perfect arrangements, the sooner parties respond to the cause the better. For the accommodation of those persons living on the lines of the different railroads leading into the city, we have been authorized to state that the presidents of all the railroads terminating here have patriotically consented to transmit to this city, on any train, articles contributed for the praiseworthy object. Packages and boxes should be directed to "John J. Wilson, Richmond, Virginia."
