CORO´NIS

CORO´NIS (κορωνίς), the cornice of an entablature, is properly a Greek word signifying anything curved (Schol. ad Aristoph. Pl. 253; Hesych. sub voce). It is also used by Latin writers, but the genuine Latin word for a cornice is corona or coronix. (Vitr. 5.2, 3.)
