ἀγορή (ἀγείρω): (1) assembly of the people or
army, distinguished from the βουλή or
council of the chiefs. ἀγορὴν ποιεῖσθαι,
τίθεσθαι, καθίζειν, ἀγορήνδε καλεῖν (through the
heralds), ἐς δ᾽ ἀγορὴν ἀγέροντο,
etc.—(2) public speech,
discussion.—(3) place of meeting,
market, pl. Od. 8.16. As
designation of time, ἐπὶ δόρπον ἀνὴρ
ἀγορῆθεν ἀνέστη, Od.
12.439.
