8 إِِجْتَوَلَ see 1, first sentence. -A2- اجتالهُمْ He turned them from their course. (K.) He (the devil) caused them to leave, or forsake, the right way. (T, TA.) اِجْتَالَتْهُمُ الشَّيَاطِينُ عَنْ دِينِهِمْ The devils excited them to lightness, or levity, and unsteadiness, so that they turned away from their religion, to error; i. e., they carried them away and drove them [from their religion].
