A.“ἐδώρησα” Hes.Op. 82, Pi.O.6.78:—give, present, “δῶρον” Hes. l. c.; present one with, θυσίαις Ἑρμᾶν Pi.l.c.:—Pass., aor. δωρηθῆναι to be given or presented, Hdt.1.87, Isoc.4.26: in pf. Pass., “παρὰ θεῶν δῶρα ὑμῖν δεδώρηται” Pl. Plt.274c; and of persons, to be presented with a thing, “χώρῃ” Hdt.8.85, cf. S.Aj.1029.
II. more freq. Med. δωρέομαι , ῥεῖα θεὸς . . ἵππους δωρήσαιτ' Il.10.557; δωρέεσθαί τί τινι present a thing to one, Hdt.2.126, 5.37, A.Pr.253, X.An.7.3.20, etc.; “σπέρμα εἰς Πελοπόννησον δωρήσασθε” Id.HG6.3.6; also δ. τινά τινι present one with a thing, Hdt.1.54, 3.130, A.Pr.778; δ. τινά to make him presents, Hdt. 1.55: pf., “δεδώρηται” Pl.Ti.46e, Lg.672b, X.Cyr.[5.2.8].
