Poets. (ϝιϝάχω, cf. Od.4.454, al.; when ϝ is observed ι is short and the sense pres. or impf.; when a preceding vowel is elided ι is long and the sense aor., as in “μεγάλ᾽ ἴαχε” Il.1.482, al.: hence in the latter places μεγάλα ϝϝάχε etc. (καὶ εὔαχε (ἔϝϝαχε) in 20.62, ἐν πρώτοισι ϝαχών in 19.424) is prob. cj.: -α^-, exc. in impf. ι^α_χον (v.l. ἴακχον) Ar.Av.l.c.: wāˇĝh- perh. cogn. with swāˇĝh- in “ἠχέω, ἀχέω” B.)
