A.wryneck, Iynx torquilla, Arist.HA504a12, PA695a23, Ael.NA6.19; used as a charm to recover unfaithful lovers, being bound to a revolving wheel, “ἴ. τετράκναμος” Pi.P.4.214, cf. AP5.204; “ἕλκειν ἴυγγα ἐπί τινι” X.Mem.3.11.18; “ἴ. ἕλκε τὺ τῆνον ἐμὸν ποτὶ δῶμα” Theoc.2.17: metaph., ἕλκομαι ἴυγγι ἦτορ as by the magic wheel, Pi.N.4.35; “ὥσπερ ἀπὸ ἴυγγος τῷ κάλλει ἑλκόμενος” Luc.Dom.13.
