A.ripe, of fruit, Thphr.CP3.6.9 (Comp.), LXX Ge.40.10, AP12.185 (Strat.); of girls, opp. νέαι, v.l. in Ar.Ec.896 ; “παρθένοι” Plu.Comp.Lyc.Num. 4, cf. Lyc. 15 ; “φιλέουσι πέπειρος” AP12.9 (Strat.).
2. metaph., of persons, mild, “πεπειροτέρους γεγονότας” D.H.9.49.
3. π. νοῦσος a disease come to its crisis, Hp.Acut.39 ; also πεπειρότερον πτύελον more concocted, Id.Epid.2.3.4.
