Luc.JTr. 31: Hom. only uses the pl., “ταρφέες ἰοί” Il.11.387, Od.22.246; “ταρφέας ἰούς” Il.15.472; “ταρφέες κεραυνοί” Hes.Th.693; “ταρφέα δράγματα” Il.11.69: neut. pl. ταρφέα as Adv., ofttimes, often, 12.47, 13.718, 22.142, Od.8.379: regul. Adv. “ταρφέως” B.12.86:—Hom. also has a fem. nom. ταρφειαί and acc. ταρφειάς, so accented by Aristarch. and found in most codd., ταρφειαὶ νιφάδες, κόρυθες, Il. 19.357,359; ταρφειὰς [νιφάδας] 12.158; ταρφείας was prescribed (prob. wrongly) by D.T.ap.Hdn.Gr.2.81 in Il.12.158.
