A.ship which is towed : hence, trading vessel, merchantman, Pi.N.5.2, Hdt.3.135, 7.25, 137, Lys.32.25 ; “ἐν ὁλκάσιν ἢ πλοίοις” Th.7.7, cf. X.Ath.1.20 ; “ὁ. σιταγωγοί” Th.6.44 ; “οἰναγωγοί” Pherecr.143.5, cf. Cephisod.10 : metaph., of women, AP5.160 ; of Europa's bull, Nonn.D.1.66.
2. of stones, conveyed to the place of building, IG11(2).199A79 (Delos, iii B. C.).
3. ὁλκάς: . . παρ᾽ Ἀλκμᾶνι ἀειδῶν (i. e. ἀηδών, cf. Hsch. s.v. ὁλκάς), Cyr.Coisl.394 (Rh.Mus.43.451).
