II. pf. πέπρωμαι, only 3sg. πέπρωται (Hes. also in plpf. πέπρωτο):—it has or had been (is or was) fated, c. acc. pers. et inf., “ἄμφω γὰρ πέπρωται . . γαῖαν ἐρεῦσαι” Il.18.329, cf. Pi.O.8.33, E.Alc.21: c. dat. pers. et inf., “οἱ πέπρωτο . . δαμῆναι” Hes. Th.464, cf. 475; “τί γὰρ πέπρωται Ζηνὶ πλὴν ἀεὶ κρατεῖν” A.Pr.519, cf. 815, Antiph.227.10; πεπρωμένον ἐστί, = πέπρωται, ὁπποτέρῳ θανάτοιο τέλος πεπρωμένον ἐστί Il.3.309; “ὅτῳ θανεῖν μέν ἐστιν οὐ πεπρ.” A.Pr.753; “ἐκ θεῶν πεπρ. ἐστὶ πολέμους γίγνεσθαι” X.HG6.3.6.
2. part. as Adj., of persons, destined to a thing, “ὁμῇ πεπρωμένον αἴσῃ” Il.15.209, cf. 16.441, E.Tr.340(lyr.).
b. abs., destined, “π. βασιλεύς” Pi.P.4.61; “τὸν πεπρ. μόρον” A.Fr.362.4; βίος π. one's natural life, Pi.P.6.27; “τὸ μόρσιμον π.” Id.N.4.61; ἀρετὰ π. ib.43; π. αἶσα, ξυμφορά, etc., A.Pr.103, S.Ant. 1337, etc.; “ὅταν ἔλθῃ τὸ π. τέλος” X.Mem.2.1.33; ἡ π. (with and without μοῖρα) appointed lot, Fate, Destiny, Hdt.1.91, E.Hec.43, etc.; twice in Isoc., 1.43, 10.61 (also, οὐ ταῦτα ταύτῃ μοῖρά πω τελεσφόρος κρᾶναι πέπρωται, i.e. ἡ πεπρωμένη μοῖρα οὐ ταῦτα ταύτῃ κρανεῖ, A.Pr. 512); also, “τὸ π.” Pi.Fr.232, A.Ag.68 (anap.), 684 (lyr.), E.Rh.634; “τὰ π.” Id.Ion 1388, etc.—Poet. word, pf. part.
