2. ναῦν π. have the oars spread like wings ready to dip into the water, Plb.1.46.11 (intr. in pf., ναῦς ἐπτερωκυῖα ib.9), cf. Plu.Ant.63, Charito 1.9; “ταρσῷ κατήρει πίτυλος ἐπτερωμένος” E.IT1346.
