2. unite by breaking partitions, “τὸ γὰρ ἄστυ μίαν οἴκησίν φημι ποιήσειν συρρήξασ᾽ εἰς ἓν ἅπαντα” Ar.Ec.674 (anap.): intr., of rivers, ποταμοὶ καὶ ἄλλοι καὶ Ὕλλος συρρηγνῦσι ἐς τὸν Ἕρμον break into the Hermus, join it, Hdt.1.80:—Pass., of sores, run together, pass into one another, “κίνδυνος ἂν εἴν συρραγῆναι τὰς ὠτειλάς” Hp.Art.11; so, of ducts in the body, “τὸ ἐξωτάτω τρῆμα συνερρωγὸς εἰς ταὐτό” Arist.HA497a25; of internal ruptures, Diocl. II. dash together: metaph., ς. πόλεμον cause war to break out, Plu.2.1049d:—Pass., “ὁ πόλεμος ξυνερρώγει” Th.1.66, cf. J.BJ1.19.1, D.C.38.47; “πολέμου συρραγέντος” Plu.2.322b; “κραυγὴ συνερρήγνυτο” Id.Arat.21; “πότου νεανικοῦ συρραγέντος” Id.Alex. 50; also “συνερρωγότων . . αὐτῶν ἐς τὸν πόλεμον” D.C.48.28.
