2. metaph., urge gently on, so as to make him speak, Pl.Chrm.162d, Plu.Aem. 9; “ὑ. ἔγκλημα” Luc.Eun.13; cf. “κινέω” A. 11.2.
II. intr., move a little, οὐδεμία πόλις ἂν ὑπεκίνησε not a single city would have stirred a finger, Hdt.5.106, cf. Ar.Ra.644, X.Cyn.3.6; ἐπ᾽ ἐφέδρου ὅτι μὴ ὑποκινήσει on a chair which will not shake, Hp.Morb.2.47.
