ἤδη related to νῦν, as Lat. jam to nunc

I.by this time, before this, already, or of the future, now, presently, forthwith, Hom.; νὺξ ἤδη τελέθει 'tis already night, Il.; ἔτος τόδ᾽ ἤδη δέκατον Soph.:—so in a local relation, ἀπὸ ταύτης ἤδη Αἴγυπτος directly after this is Egypt, Hdt.
II.often joined with other words of time, ἤδη νῦν now already, Hom.; νῦν ἤδη Soph., etc.; ἤδη πάλαι id=Soph.; ἐπεὶ ἤδη, Lat. quum jam, Od., etc.
