καλλωπίζω 1 ὤψ

I.properly, to make the face beautiful; hence, to beautify, embellish, Plat.:—Pass., κεκαλλωπισμέναι τὸ χρῶμα, i. e. painted, Xen.
II.Mid. to adorn oneself, make oneself fine or smart, Plat.: metaph. to pride oneself in or on a thing, τινι or ἐπί τινι id=Plat.:—absol. to make a display, shew off, of a horse, Xen.
2.to be coy, play the prude, τινι or πρός τινα towards another, Plat.; c. inf., κ. παραιτεῖσθαι to affect to deprecate, Plut.
