[1. praesto], to stand ready for, to wait for, expect a person or thing (syn.: opperior, exspecto): praestolari dicitur is, qui ante stando, ibi, quo venturum excipere vult, moratur, Paul. ex Fest. p. 223 Müll.; cf.: praestolari est praesto esse et apparere, Don. ad Ter.
