Chloeia
or
Chloia (
Χλόεια or
Χλοιά). A festival celebrated at Athens in honour of Demeter
Chloé, or simply Chloé, whose temple stood near the Acropolis (Hesych.
s. v.
Χλοιά). It was solemnized in spring, on the sixth of
Thargelion, when the blossoms began to appear (hence the names
Χλόη and
Χλόεια), with the sacrifice of a goat
and much mirth and rejoicing.
