Scerdilaidas
(
Σκερδιλαίδας) or
Scerdilaedus
(
Σκερδίλαιδος). A king of Illyria, who was in all
probability a son of Pleuratus, and younger brother of Agron, both of them kings of that
country. After the defeat and abdication of Teuta (B.C. 229), he probably succeeded to a
portion of her dominions, but did not assume the title of king till after the death of his
nephew Pinnes. He carried on war for some years against Philip, king of Macedonia, and thus
appears as an ally of the Romans. He probably died about 205, and was succeeded by his son
Pleuratus.
