RAPRAUA

RAPRAUA (Ῥάπραυα, Marcian, Peripl. 2.32, ed. Muller), a small place on the coast of Gedrosia, between the river Arabis and the Portus Mulierum. It is probably the same as that called by Ptolemy Ragirava (Ῥαγίραυα, 6.21.2). It may be doubted whether it can now be recognised, unless indeed the name has been preserved in that of Arabat, a bay in the immediate neighbourhood. (See Müller, ad Arrian. Indic. § 26.)
