SESTIA´NAE ARAE

SESTIA´NAE ARAE (called by Ptolemy Σηστίου Βωμοὶ ἄκρον, 2.5.3), the W. promontory of the N. coast of Gallaecia in Hispania Tarraconensis. It had three altars dedicated to Augustus, whence its name. (Plin. Nat. 4.20. s. 34; Mela, 3.1.) It is the present Cabo Villano (Florez, Esp. Sagr. xx. p. 44; Sestini, Med. Isp. p. 103.)
