STENA

STENA a station in Macedonia, on the road from Tauriana (Doïrân) to Stobi (Peut. Tab.), which is evidently the pass now called Demirkapi, or “Iron Gate,” where the river Axius is closely bordered by perpendicular rocks, which in one place have been excavated for the road (Leake, Northern Greece, vol. iii. p. 442.)
