Vargunteius

1. L. Vargunteius, a senator and one of Catiline's conspirators, undertook, in conjunction with C. Cornelius, to murder Cicero in B. C. 63, but their plan was frustrated by information conveyed to Cicero through Fulvia. He was afterwards brought to trial, but could find no one to defend him, not even Hortensius, who had defended him on a former occasion when he was accused of bribery. (Sal. Cat. 17, 28, 47, pro Sull. 2.)
