[p. 31] meeting to consider school accommodation and organization, and at an adjourned meeting, April 5, they made a lengthy report to this effect:

1st That the town contains 202 families or house holders and that the law requires that each town that contains that number of families or householders shall be provided with schoolmasters for such term of time as shall be equivalent to two masters a whole year.

2d that the Town now contains one hundred and fifty nine boys over the age of seven years.

3d That the town contains 158 girls over the age of 7 years and neither of the above numbers do contain the children that belong to Doctr Stearns' or Miss Hannah Swan's School, excepting those that belong to the town.

4th That the Town contains 117 children of both sexes over 4 years of age and under 7 years of age that require to be taught in the summer season by women teachers.

5th We would recommend to have the School Committee authorized to employ one school master the whole year & one other school master for the term of six months beginning about the first of November & that both said schools be kept at the school house by the meeting house.

6th That the School committee be authorized to employ three women teachers for six months beginning about the first of May who are to teach the girls of all ages from 4 years old and upwards & the boys from 4 years old to 7 unless they are sufficiently qualified to go to the master's school.

7th That one of these womens schools be kept at the westerly part of the town somewhere near Brooks corner so called.

8th That one other woman's school be kept at the school house by the meeting house.

9th That the other woman's school be kept at the easterly part of the town somewhere near the mile lane so called where a place can be provided for the accommodation
