The Legislature.
The Senate yesterday appointed a Committee of Conference with the
House in reference to a disagreement by that body to certain Senate amendments to the bill concerning the militia.
Bills were passed authorizing the
Treasurer to destroy certain Bank notes now in his pos- session, and such as may be received in future; and authorizing the Petersburg Railroad Com- pany to increase its capital stock.
The Committee of Courts of Justice were instructed to inquire into the expediency of reporting a bill prohibiting the game of Keno.
The tax bill, of which Keno formed a part, was debated.
The
House laid on the table the bill incorporating the American Agency, and passed a number of Senate bills.
The bill for the rechartering of the Bank of Virginia, and other monied institutions, was made the order of the day for to-day at 12 o'clock. A Committee of Conference with the Senate was appointed on the militia bill.
