The late Dr. Empie.

We noticed briefly in our Monday's Issue the death of the Rev. Adam Empie, D. D., the former esteemed Rector of St. James' Church in this city. Dr. Empie was one of the most able and well read of American divines, and possessed a remarkably clear, strong and scholarly mind. He was formerly, we believe, Chaplain at the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, and was afterwards President of William and Mary College. His memory will be fondly cherished by his friends in this city, for his eminent Christian virtues and his long and useful labors.
