Affray on 17th street.

--A man named Joseph Vernon was carried before the Mayor yesterday, charged with having violated the law of the land by shooting Augustus Longinotti in the head with a pistol Bullet on last Sabbath day, on 17th street. The wounded party is a boy — the accused a full grown man. The witnesses could not tell whether the boy had been shot or knocked on the head; and the appearance of the wound leaving the matter open to doubt, the case was continued until Thursday, and the defendant sent to jail till that time.
