A scandal case.

--A great scandal case has been going on before the Criminal Court at Memphis, for the past week. The Appeal gives the following outlines of it:

Trial for Extortion.--At the Criminal Court yesterday afternoon, Chas. N. Martin and Ellen Shaw, wife of A. B. Shaw, were called for trial on the charge of "willfully and maliciously extorting from Dr. Samuel Gilbert five promissory notes, to the amount of ten thousand dollars, and his signature to a deed of trust upon real estate secure the same, by means of verbal threats upon his life."

The Appeal of the 17th says the jury had not agreed upon a verdict.
