Reported Movements of the enemy.

The city was full of rumors yesterday relating to the incursions of the enemy in Western Virginia; but we could gather nothing from official sources in confirmation of the reports. Our advices from Alleghany Mountain are as late as January 1st, at which time all was quiet in that neighborhood. We learn that Colonel Johnson says he can hold his position, but apprehends some danger that his supplies may be cut off by the enemy getting in his rear.

The reports from the Peninsula inform us that the enemy has been threatening a demonstration in that direction; that our lower pickets have been driven in, and that a large body of Federals advanced upon Bethel, burning such property as remained there. There is doubtless some reason to believe that an attack upon Gen. Magruder's lines is in contemplation.

A dispatch has been received from Gen. Lee, stating that the enemy has left the mainland and gone back to Port Royal Island.--The Yankee demonstration upon our coast thus far amounts to nothing, comparatively, while vessels from foreign ports continue to elude the blockade and arrive in safety.
