Police Court.
--Yesterday, the case of
Wm. Rowe, charged with feloniously shooting at
Patrick Maclin, not being ready, was continued till Tuesday.--The shooting took place a few nights since on Dock street.
Rowe having a musket, thought proper to cry ‘"half"’ to
Maclin, and the latter not recognizing the signal, was shot through the left shoulder, the ball passing entirely through his body.
As soon as
Maclin gets well enough to appear,
Mr. Rowe will be required to state the reason of his rather summary action, and excuse himself if he can.--
Henrietta Tipton, colored female, charged with stealing $59 from Jesse, slave of
Dr. M
Burton, was examined and sent before the Hustings Court for final trial.--
Joe Richards, colored, was arraigned on the complaint of his brother,
Warren, who charged him with threatening to knock his brains out with a club.
The belligerent got an order entitling him to 15 lashes.--
Edward Augur on Thursday night constituted himself a great bore to
Jos. Bowman by discharging a gun in the direction of his person.
Augur was required to give $150 security to be of better behavior in future.--
Delia Reynolds, charged with breaking down
Matilda Sprowl's door, was acquitted.--
Levi Benedict, who has been often fined for huckstering, was again summoned up for a similar offence, and fined $50--
Christian Stevens was fined $5 for huckstering.--
Margaret Misco, arrested for assaulting and beating
Wm. Hulscher, was required to give $200 surely to restrain her warlike propensities.
