--A conscript, now confined at Castle Thunder for transmission to the army, performed a novel operation upon himself with a rusty knife, last Wednesday night, to prevent being sent off. If he recovers from his wounds, as it is hoped he will, he can never become a soldier or a man. A regiment of such creatures would not dare to attack a blind sheep in a ten-acre field.
