A man shot at the penitentiary.

--On Friday night last, a man named Johnson, from Princess Anne county, a convict, who had been pardoned the day before by Governor Letcher, returned to the penitentiary, and approached one of the sentinels, who hailed him. Johnson replied, "I am coming to you, " when he failed to do. The sentinel then fired, the ball entering the chest of Johnson, and inflicting a wound from which he died in about twenty minutes.
