Careless Driving.

--Much indignation has recently been expressed, by ladies especially, that the colored drivers of the Government wagons should be permitted to indulge in the reckless and dangerous speed which has become habitual with them. Long strings of them traverse the streets daily, their drivers neither stopping nor caring for passers by — in fact, the impudence of these black rascals has reached such a point that a wholesome dose of corporal punishment would not be omits. We, therefore, call the attention of the police to the matter, unless, indeed, these follows, from being employed by Government, occupy a higher and different position from that of the driver of a public vehicle owned by a private person. No later than Saturday evening last a lady and child came near being run over by one of these Government wagons, driven at headlong speed.
